Dead Horse Point State Park Main Visitor Center Overlook



  That is Will hiking back up from one of the overlooks.

  This is the same overlook but you can see the mountains in the background a little better in this picture. They look really close, But we check a map and think they are about 35 miles away!

  This is the view right from the edge of the overlook. The blue lake in the background is not natural. It is actually a mineral mining operation on private property. They pump water into the ground where it absorbs the minerals. Then it is brought back to the surface and put in these evaporation ponds. After the water evaporates, the minerals are left behind to be collected. I have no idea what it is they are after here but it looks cools, hehe.

  Same view as above except that here you can see the side of the cliff where I am standing. It's a perspective thing. An interesting thing to note is the pale colored trail that leads from the floor of the canyon up the side of the canyon wall on the left side of the picture. I can't see where it goes, but can you imagine taking a wrong turn?
